Every passing day, a child is leaving a home and finding his way to the streets. For some it is because their family died, for others mistreatment from those supposed to be there for them while others end up here because they were born on the street.                                                    One way or another, the numbers keep growing. Teenage pregnancy has also fueled the growth of these numbers and with hundreds of underage girls giving birth daily, failing to take care of these infants and eventually dumping them on streets to die or fend for themselves.

It is for reasons such as these that Forward it Charity took the bold step of not only getting these children off the streets but also set up a place where they can be raised, educated, skilled and made a useful part of this country’s workforce. There was need to make these children with a similar life experience of being society’s outcasts, living in hardship and neglected to find a place to call home, to be part of a new family and to create memories that will erase those that had always been the picture of life to them. The idea of a children’s home was born.

The Forward it Charity Children’s Home is a brain child of the director who saw the need to have a home, separate from the orphanage to accommodate the children rescued from the streets. Having first worked with these children while they still were on the street, there was eventual need to have them housed, clothed and fed under one roof. Merely working with them and letting them get back into the street life yielded little results so a home had to be set up.

Like the saying goes, “If your dream does not scare you, it’s not a big dream”. Despite resources not being in abundance, the project of the Children’s Home was started. Through much sacrifice and re-prioritizing projects, land was acquired, foundations were laid and slowly, a building to house the Children’s Home started to grow.                                                                                                                                              This project not only tested our physical input but also our faith and determination to see our vision come to life. Day and night, every member of the team worked tirelessly to see that the work went ahead. Resource mobilization was at its peak, everybody with any idea and ability had to bring it to the table and surely, the results were visible.

Today, this project is still ongoing and the struggle is still visible. Even to the children we are rehabilitating, its completion is looked forward to with a lot of anticipation. As a ministry and the vision bearers, we see the Children’s Home having a lot to offer with great facilities, good accommodation for the staff and children, computer facilities, sports arenas and so much more. With your support, this dream may come to pass sooner than we anticipate and together, we shall rid the streets of children and put them in this loving, caring home

ABOUT

Forward it Salvation of Good Hope (FSGH) is a faith based Community Based Organization (CBO) based in Kiboga District of Ugandan with its main offices in Kampala. We are dedicated to improving the quality of life of the vulnerable children across Uganda. FSGH was founded on the basis of rehabilitating street children out of a deep conviction and commitment by the founder Pastor Moses Kazibwe a former street child in February 2017 and legally registered as a CBO in 2018.

Through a number of projects, FSGH has met the needs of over 500 street children directly in and within Kampala City besides the 2,000 indirectly supported other vulnerable children in Kiboga District of Uganda.

The founder ended up on the streets of Kampala as a street child at the age of 8 years old, after severe mistreatment in the hands of the stepmother after the death of his biological parents.

As a former street child, I know that each child has his/her own story and that most of the stories have a common theme that shows the poor situation in their families, the experiences of poverty and social exclusion, as well as the initial difficulties experienced on the streets such as death, imprisonment, torture to an extend of losing some body parts when caught stealing, food on the streets is not guaranteed and one cannot survive without food. No one understands the pain our own children on the streets go through unless you have faced the same pain had a practical hands on experience on the same streets.
